EARL A. HON - Long Illness Is Fatal To Retired Frisco Engineer - Earl A. "Gus" Hon of Jonesboro, Ark., father of Dr. Ralph C. Hon, professor of economics and business administration at Southwestern, died at 4:20 p.m. yesterday at Mustin Nursing Home after a long illness. He was 85. Services will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Gregg Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery. Mr. Hon, a retired locomotive engineer, had worked for the Frisco Railroad for 42 years. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, and was an active member of the First Methodist Church of Jonesboro. Born in Burnt Prairie, Ill., Mr. Hon moved to Jonesboro as a youth. He also leaves a daughter, Miss Helen Hon, of St. Louis. (Published in The Commercial Appeal, Memphis, TN, on July 22, 1964)
