Sarah was the 10th of 12 children born to Ira Hubbs & Frances Rolph; wife of Alfred T. Brown [1817-1876]; they married 20 September 1841 at Smithtown, Suffolk County, L. I. and they had 9 children. She was born at Smithtown, Suffolk County, New York & died at Brooklyn, Kings County, New York. After the death of her husband Alfred in 1876, she moved to Brooklyn, New York, where most of her family had previously moved. At the time of her death. which was caused by cardiac disease and contributory by asthenia, she was living at 516 Dean Street, Brooklyn, New York. Also living at that address were her son Clinton, his son William, her grandson George,who was her son Monroe Sanford's son, her daughter-in-law Emma,who was her son Charles' widow and Emma's daughters, Alice and Elizabeth.
