Rev. Charlie Franklin Landreth, 93, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2008, at Moses Cone Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, at Sumner Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.
Charlie was born April 1, 1915, in Stokes County, son of the late Ogburn and Rhena Dodson Landreth.
He was ordained as a Baptist minister in 1947.
He pastored Carraway Baptist Church for eight years, Simmons Grove Baptist Church for three years, Community Baptist Church for 18 years and currently was a member of Sumner Baptist Church.
He also worked for Blue Bell Co. and retired after 37 years of service.
Charlie was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilmath Landreth; son, Buck Landreth; three brothers and two sisters.
He survived by his wife, Becky Landreth; daughters, Rachel Shelton, Linda (Jim) Anderson and Betty Jo London; daughter-in-law, Barbara Landreth; son, Ron (Marilyn) Angle; step- daughter, Barbara Mullins; step-sons, Hoppy Whitaker and Larry Coffey; sister, Oteria Middleton; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great great grandson; five step- grandchildren; eight step- great grandchildren, and two step-great great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hanes Lineberry, Sedgefield Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wilmath Landreth Memorial Fund, c/o Sumner Baptist Church or Sumner Baptist Church, 4453 Old Randleman Road, Greensboro, N.C. 27406.
