My mother often told me how Grandmother Meredith would lie the children in their beds with a bed cord, that she might be sure that they would not fall into the Ohio River.
They floated down the river until they came to the mouth of Lchery or Laughery Creek at Aurora, Indiana.
Here they landed and settled. After a few years they disposed of their holdings and moved to Butler Co Ohio.

They did not stay in Butler County long, but purchased a farm on the State Line, West of Oxford OH.
The farm is now owned by Francis Morrical.

Samuel Meredith departed this life on Dec 29, 1841.
His wife, Mary on Feb 24, 1844.
