Mrs. Jeanette Rebecca Porter Hales, 74, of Los Angeles, a former Salt Lake City resident, died Friday (August 31, 1951) at 2:38 a.m. at her residence of coronary occlusion, according to word received here by relatives.

She was born June 18, 1877, in Centerville, Davis County, a daughter of Aaron B. and Rebecca M. Pool Porter. She was married to John K. Hales March 16, 1897, in the Salt Lake Temple.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and an active member of the Wilshire Ward in Los Angeles.

Mr. and Mrs. Hales lived in Rexburg, Ida., in the early part of their married life and moved to Salt Lake City in 1909. In 1929 they moved to New York City, where they resided until the death of Mr. Hales in 1933. She resided in Oakland, Calif., until 1943 when she went to Los Angeles.

Survivors are a son and four daughters, J. Rulon Hales, New York City; Mrs. Thelma H. Brown and Mrs. Dorothy H. Snow, Los Angeles; Mrs. Leona H. Ashton, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Cleo H. Page, Bountiful; 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; three brothers and four sisters, Aaron B. Porter, Salt Lake City; Wilburn W. and Nathan T. Porter, Portland, Ore.: Mrs. Ethel P. Johnson and Mrs. Edna P. Brown, Rexburg, Ida.; Mrs. Dora P. O'Brian, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Vera P. Taylor, Boise, Ida.

Funeral services and burial will be in Salt Lake City and will be announced later. (Deseret News, September 1, 1951)

Jeanette R. P. Hales---Funeral services for Mrs. Jeanette Rebecca Porter Hales, 74 of Los Angeles, were scheduled for Tuesday at 3 P.M. at 368 East South Temple St. Bishop William L. Angeles Page of the Bountiful Second Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was to officiate.

Mrs. Hales died Friday at 2:38 a.m. at her residence in Los Angeles of a coronary occlusion. She was a former Resident of Salt Lake City. Burial was to be in the Bountiful City Cemetery. (Deseret News, September 5, 1951)
