C. Emry Vance, 98, died Monday, February 6, at the Okanogan-Douglas County Hospital in Brewster.
Born May 27, 1885, in Springfield, Illinois to Jim and Lousa Vance, he and his brother, Guy, homesteaded near Leahy in 1902. He was always a cattleman and farm owner. After his retirement he still enjoyed going to the ranch to spend his time. He also liked to fish. His grandchildren were especially devoted to him.
He married L. Gertrude Witmer in Spokane on March 4, 1912.
Survivors include his wife at the home; two daughters, Evelyn Crowder, Okanogan, and Lois McGrath, Mansfield; two sons, Wesley and Clinton, Mansfield; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Guy, Tonasket and Byron, Okanogan.
Services will be held Thursday, February 9 at the United Protestant Church in Mansfield. Rev. George Wall will officiate. Burial in the Mansfield Cemetery.
