Mrs. Kathryn Virnig, age 92, a resident of Pierz, died February 19 at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls.
Surviors include sons, Raymond, Hillman, Andrew, Hillman, Gerald, Little Falls; duaghters, Mrs. Clifford (Alice) Gross, Neillsville, Wisc., Mrs. Walter (Laura) Block, Mpls., Minn.; brother, Louis Gassert, Mpls., Minn; 20 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, parents, daughter, Mrs. Delores Hall, brothers Henry, Edward, Fred, and John Gassert, sisters, Mrs. Mary Boser, Mrs. Francis Meyer, Mrs. Margaret Faust, and Mrs. Ann Brausen.
Funeral services were held February 22 at St. Joseph's Church in Pierz with Rev. Alfred Heltemes officiating. Burial was in the St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were made through the Shelley-Virnig Fuenral Home in Pierz.

Mrs. Virnig was born Aug. 7, 1889 in Buh Township, Minnesota, daughter of Henry and Louisa Gassert. She married John A. Virnig May 8, 1912 in Lastrup. Together, they farmed in Granite Township, northeast of Lastrup, for 50 years. They retired in 1962, and have since lived at 313 Main Street, Pierz. She was a member of Christian Mothers and also a member of St. Joseph's Parish.
