William and Mary had 2 chilren:

2. Riley R Johnson 9 Apr 1872 TN - 11 Aug 1956 TX

William Riley Johnson was killed by a falling tree in Hamilton Co, IL. He died between January and March of 1872. After he died Mary took her son Melvin Johnson and returned to her parents home in Putnam Co, TN. She gave birth to her 2nd son, Riley R Johnson 9 Apr 1872 at her parents home in TN

Mary Clark Johnson was married only 2 years when her husband, William, died. Their son Riley was born 3 months after William died. Riley never knew his father and his mother never remarried.

By 1900 Mary Johnson and these 5 boys were living in Rockwall Co, and Lamar Co, Texas. They raised their families around each other and stayed close.
