Laura Woody lived most of her married life in Gilmer County Georgia. She was born in Polk County, Tennessee on November 20, 1878 her parents were Elmer Scott Beaver (January 14, 1850 ~ September 19, 1918) and Frances Lucinda Holden (July 12, 1852 ~ May 4, 1899). She married William Riley Woody in Fannin County, Georgia on August 30, 1896. Children from her marrige were Ina Ethel [Woody]Wilson (March 2, 1898 ~ May 5, 1961), John Obe Woody (February 24, 1901 ~ March 14, 1901) died at 3 weeks old, Willis Claude Woody Sr. (October 8, 1903 ~ May 30, 2000), Eliza Ellavee Woody (August 24, 1906 ~ January 12, 1914) died from diptheria epidemic, Mary Velma Woody (July 20, 1909 ~ December 18, 1913) died from diptheria epidemic, Rheba Onice [Woody] Benoy (August 11, 1912 ~ ), Elbert Mark Woody (June 10, 1915 ~ March 1, 2002), Willa Nell [Woody] Fortenberry (January 3, 1918 ~ December 5, 1994).

Laura was a small child when Elbert & Lucinda moved to Big Creek section of Fanin County, Georgia from Tennessee where she resided until her marrige to "Bud" and "raised" their family. They were farmers of the "protestant" persuasion.
