Elton was an active member of the LDS Church where he served in many callings, including Bishop of the Annabella Ward and served in the South Sevier Stake Presidency for many years. He was a sought after speaker in funerals and over the years delivered over 150 funeral sermons. He and Clara served as ordinance workers in the Manti Temple for many years. He was a very compassionate man who always looked after the needs of the poor.
