Jean Axtel Kinser, age 95, of Bloomington, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Tuesday evening in her home she loved and shared with her husband, Eathel, their six daughters and one son. A home they built together in 1945 from lumber harvested from their land and sawed on dad's sawmill.

Born July 20, 1912 in Monroe County, she was the daughter of Willis and Sally (Webb) Langley. Most of her long life was lived in Monroe County except for a time in her early childhood. Her dad and mom moved their family of ten children to Brazil, Indiana and later to Detroit, Michigan before returning to Bloomington.

Loved by all who knew her, everyone was welcomed to her small country home. Her son, Sheldon Kinser would grow up to become a race car driver, driving six times in the Indianapolis 500. She welcomed all the guests he would bring home. It didn't matter how big the name, she gave them a meal of beans, fried potatoes, cornbread and apple pie. They loved it. She was a very generous and loving person with a great sense of humor. Her little songs she sang to her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids will be passed on to the next generations and they will be known as Grandma Kinser's songs.

She was employed several years with RCA and Indiana University. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

She is survived by her five daughters and three sons-in-law; Kathryn Knight (Frank), Audrey Barrow, Reba Wiley (Fred), Roberta Mann, and Shirley Long (Bob), all of Bloomington; three brothers, Glen Langley, of Bloomington and Floyd Langley and Billy Langley, both of Moline, Illinois. Two sisters, Wanda Hill and Marjorie Buzzard, both of Moline, Illinois. She has twenty-five grandchildren, forty-four great-grandchildren and forty-one great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eathel, in 1990; her daughter, Linda Gilliland, in 1961; her son, Sheldon Kinser, in 1988; grandson, Stephen Harris, in 1950; three sisters, Ruby Jacobs, Lauretta Peek, Martha Huffer. Two brothers, Ralph Langley and Lloyd Langley. Two sons-in-law Paul Barrow and John Mann.

Beloved mom, mamma and grandma. Rest in peace in the arms of Jesus.

The funeral service will be held on Monday at 1:00 P.M. at Day Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Douglas and Rev. Harold Godsey officiating. Burial will follow in Payne Cemetery.
