James L. Austin was a physician in Rockwall, Texas. He was mentioned in the booklet put out for the Centennial celebration for Rockwall in 1954. He also took part in World War I with the Texas medical Corps as a first lieutenant.

The son of Milton Stanhope.. and Margaret Elizabeth "Maggie" (Dumas) Austin. He married Lula A. and they were the parents of Russell E. and Mary Lillion.
