Magdalena "Lena" Lockner was born in Baden, Germany. She was about 3 months of age when her parents immigrated to the US in 1849, ending up in Rochester, NY. After the Civil War 2 brothers who were veterans were able to get homesteads in Nebraska. All the family members relocted to Nebraska.

She was married 4 times. Number 3 was Marion Anthony, I have a marriage notice but do not know where he is buried.

A 1920 Census shows her living in Norfolk, Madison County Nebraska. She was living her sister Caroline Lamb.

Her last husband was Jacob Eschler. He died 1917.

Update: It appears that she is buried as Lena Ashley in Union Cemetery, Battle Creek, Madison Nebraska. The birth date is correct. She is also showing on the 1930 census as resident of the Norfolk Poor Farm. Further confirmation is the death certificate which shows Ashley was in error. Her death certificate confirms this error and is attached to the memorial.

A special thanks to Jack Williams FAG member #46856865 for originally creating this memorial and to Lizzie FAG member #47370782 for helping to determine that this was indeed the gravesite for Lena Eschler.
