QUAPAW, Okla.—Mrs. Frances Wood, 68 years old, died at her home here at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. She had been bedfast for the past six weeks and ill for about one year.

She was born in Galena, Kan., on August 26, 1894, and had lived in the Four-State area all of her life. [Except for the many years they lived in California.] She had been a resident of Quapaw since 1956 and was a member of the Pentecostal church.

Surviving are her husband, Vernon Wood, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Lillie Garcia, Quapaw; five brothers, Roy and Floyd Jenkins, both of Okmulgee, Okla., Leonard, Harvey and Joe Jenkins, all of Galena, Kan.; one sister, Mrs. Stella Bender, Picher, Okla.; six grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Hutchins funeral home at Miami, Okla.

Miss Frances Jenkins and Fred Abbott were quietly married at high noon on Sunday, October 31 at the home of the brides' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert (sic) [George Washington 'Bob'] Jenkins in Galena. After the wedding an elegant dinner was served. Mr. Abbott is one of our prosperous young farmers. Mr. and Mrs. Abbott will make their home on the Jesse Pinson farm this winter.

Every mine operator and workman remembers Fred Abbott, who up to the time of this death in April of 1935 [1925] was ground boss for the Semple Mining Company at the Early Bird Mine. His daughter, Geneva Abbott will be graduated from the Baxter Springs Kansas high school with honors on Friday of this week. Geneva possesses a heap of those splendid traits of character so dominant with her father.

Note: Did not find an obit on Fred Abbott in 1935. [That's because it was 1925.]
