Death of Mrs. W. S. DeBolt

Mrs. Elizabeth Jerusha (Silvey) DeBolt, wife of W.S. DeBolt, died January 8, 1917, at her home in Altoona, Kansas, age 78 years 6 months, 27 days. The principal cause of her death was old age. She had been sick for several days suffering from an attack of acute indigestion. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, January 10th, at the Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. David McCleave. Burial was in the Altoona Cemetery.

Elizabeth J. Silvey was born in Fayette County, Indiana, Jun 12th, 1838. She was married to W. S. (Wyatt Saunders) DeBolt, September 23, 1858. Five children, three sons and two daughters, were born to this union. Two sons and one daughter and the aged husband and father survive. The children are E. A. (Elmer Asbury) and L.A. (Leslie Albert) DeBolt and Mrs. J.E. (Fannie DeBolt) Harbert, all of Altoona. There are eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mrs. and Mrs. W. S. DeBolt left Indiana in 1870 and settled in Missouri. They left there in 1892, coming to Kansas, locating in Altoona in 1893 and have since made their home here.

Another one of our fine old ladies has gone. She was an every day Christian. It is difficult to pay a fitting tribute to the memory of so noble a woman-one whose every day life was embellished by the most charming and loveable attributes of her sex. She was always ready to lend a helping hand in time of need-both in acts of kindness and in words. The many friends of the family deeply sympathize with them in the loss of wife and mother, who is resting after a long and well spent life.
