James was the son of Joe Cephas & Sallie (Bailey) Roop, and the husband of Bobbie Doris (Potter) Roop.

James Q. Roop Sr., 85, of Oxford, passed away Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007. Mr.Roop was born in Jonesville, Va., and moved to Oxford from Bonnie Blue, Va.,in 1947. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army as a first
lieutenant. Mr. Roop was a member of the United Methodist Church and the American Legion. Mr. Roop is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bobbie C. Roop; children; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
