Mrs. Nellie Grover, a sister of M. C. Pratts, of Sand Creek, died recently at New Hampton after an extended illness of cancer of the liver. For two years her health had been failing and some time ago was operated at Finley hospital, in Dubuque. Nellie C. Pratt was born at Lee Center, Oneida county, New York, June 11th, 1868. At the age of seven years she came west, to Frederika, Bremer county, this state, where she grew to womanhood. In 1890 she was united in marriage with James Costello, who died six months later. In 1894 she married a second time, to O. D. Grover. Mr. Grover died four years later. Of late Mrs. Grover had traveled to a considerable extent, spending a year in Rome, New York, some time in Kansas City, and last fall was a guest of her brother, M. C. Pratt, at Sand Creek, going from there to New Hampton. She was quite well known in and around Sand Creek, and her friends in that vicinity will regret to learn of her death. Besides her brother, she is survived by a sister living in Rome, N. Y., a step-mother, two half brothers and one half sister. Mr. Grover was heled in high esteem by all. She was a consistent member of the Baptist church and bequeathed to that society, at New Hampton, her interest in that residence property there. Her remains were interred at Frederika.
