William H. Leaman was born in Ashland county, Ohio October 22, 1859, and died at Monmouth Kansas June 7, 1913. Aged 53 years, 7 months and 16 days. Bro. Leaman moved from Ohio to Lyon County, Kansas with his parents in the year 1886. He resided here until 1906 when he moved with his family to Crawford County, Kansas where he lived until his death. He united with the Brethren Church in 1877, and was elected to the ministry in 1886 and remained faithful until death. Brother Leaman was a student at the Ashland, (Ohio) college in his young manhood, was district evangelist of the southeast district of Kansas for several years. At the time of his death he was presiding elder of the Osage Church also had the oversight of the Parsons (Kansas) church. He was elected delegate on the standing committee for the year 1913 conference. About a week before conference convened, he was taken sick and went to ElDorado Springs, Mo. which only aggravated his physical troubles and was barely able to get home.
His wife, Sarah A. Leaman, four children, Mrs. Lenore Suppe, Schuyler, Flora and Mable Leaman and a brother, John S. Leaman survive him. Two children, Esther and Lavern preceded him to the spirit land in childhood. The bereaved family have the deepest of heartfelt sympathy from their host of friends.
The funeral services were conducted by Elder Andrew Neher from Rev 14:13 at the home in Monmouth on the evening of the 7th and interment took place at Madison, Kansas on the 8th.
