The family suggests memorials be made to the Elks Rehabilitation Hospital at Boise.

In 1981 when her husband Lawrence passed away, the pastor who came to aid comfort to the family questioned Snowie about the origin of her unusual name. Snowie told him that she was born June 30th in Colorado and it was extremely hot there and she did not know why they named her Snowie. Then she added, "Maybe it will snow when they bury me".
Graveside service was Halloween Day and it snowed during the graveside memorial, this was the only time that it snowed in Lewiston, Idaho in the Winter of 1991.

Snowie was going with a Mexican man and double dating with her sister Mable when she met Lawrence, he was working at a CCC camp at the time on the Boise King Forest.

Once in La Huta, Colorado ; Snowie & her sister Mable were on their way to a grocery store and were grabbed, Snowie was 15 or 16 at the time and she kicked loose they were all living in a camp ground at the time
The McCurry family moved a lot following the fruit harvest, this is why they were in Idaho as it was Summer time and all the orchards needed pickers. They all played a musical instrument and Snowie played a harmonica and also a accordian. The family would all get together and play some wonderful old time music. They were all very good. Snowie's nickname was "toots" and they called her that to the end. She was sort of a tomboy, liked wearing jeans and western shirt and never cared for fancy dresses. She was hired by the Forest Service as a lookout to watch for Forest fires and report them. Her birthday was June 30th and that was when we usually moved from the Ranger Station to the lookout. The roads were still full of snow and usually had to be parked and all belonings carried up the mountain to the lookout. She carried in snow and melted it on a wood cook stove to wash clothes on a wash board and bath water we also used it for drinking water until we could get to the spring. In the Fall when they moved back to the Payette valley, she worked in the packing houses or Cannery to make end meet. She loved to play with kids and would go out into the stret to play with the neighborhood kids. She never liked any kind of fish even though the boys caught plenty of them. She would clean fish and fry them but never tasted any . She never had any sea food and consiquently had a huge goiter that nearly choked her to death. She also had migraine headaches and a horribly painful back as her mother also had.
