OBIT: Limestone - Josiah M. Noyes, 75, died Jan. 21 at Carey Memorial Hospital in Caribou following a brief illness.

He was born in Limestone Dec. 12, 1904, the son of Alfred and Ethyl (Long) Noyes. He was a well-known retired farmer in the Limestone area and was active in community afffairs. He was president and chairman of the board of directors of the Limestone Water District, president of the Limestone Rotary Club in 1949 and 1950, and treasurer of the Chamber of Commerce for many years. He was active in the Limestone Masonic Lodge 214 and was its treasurer for 10 years. Mr. Noyes was chairman of the Limestone School Building Committee and attended Limestone Methodist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Philip (Barbara) Leighton of Muskegon, Mich. and Mrs. Harold (Betty) Hopkinson of Manlius, N.Y.; two brothers, Gerald Noyes and Philip Noyes, both of Limestone; one sister, Mrs. Donald (Dora) Atwater of Limestone; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Jan. 24 at the Limestone Methodist Church with the Rev. Harold Hurlbert officiating. Serving as pallbearers were members of the Limestone Masonic Lodge 214, Ellsworth Morris, Allen Sloan, Richard Edgecomb, Laurin Finnemore, Floyd Finnemore and Robert Phair. Masonic memorial services were conducted in the funeral home Jan. 23. Friends who wish may contribute to the memorial fund of the Limestone Methodist Church in his memory. Envelopes may be obtained at the Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home in Caribou.

Interment will be in the Episcopal Cemetery.
