March 1944 assigned as an Automatic Rifleman (MOS 746) in B Company 1st Battalion 28th Marines 5th Marine Division MCB Camp Pendleton.
September 1944 overseas San Diego to Camp Tarawa Hawaii. January 1945 left Pearl Harbor for invasion of Iwo Jima. 19 February 1945 Killed in Action during D-Day combat operations at Iwo Jima.
Next of Kin: Parents, Mr Io A and Mrs Louise M Alcock, General Delivery, Fredricksburg, Iowa.
Initially buried in 5th Marine Division Cemetery Iwo Jima.
1948 returned to US for permanent burial in Frederika, Iowa.
