Mr. Gunsten was born Feb. 24, 1862 in Menard county.
He married Sarah E. Foster of Greenview on Aug. 22, 1888.
He came to Springfield in 1908 and had resided there since that time.
He is survived by his widow; five daughters, Mrs. W.B. Somers, of Matamoris [sic?]; Mabel, Olive, Madrona and Elsie; and three sons, Dewey, Paul and Conrad; one half sister, Mrs. Curtis Montgomery; one half brother, H.T. Anson; his stepfather, Anen Anson, of Middletown.
The remains were taken to the undertaking establishment of E.P. Metcalf and were taken to the residence.
The funeral services were held at the residence. Following the services, the remains were sent by way of the Chicago & Alton railroad to Middletown where short services were held at Middletown M.E. church.
Interment was made in Irish Grove cemetery.

A coroner's jury decided that Mr. Gunsten came to his death from contusion pneumonia, superinduced by a fall from a wagon. Mr. Gunsten was riding, it was shown in the evidence, on a step of his wagon when the step broke and he fell, injuring his left side.
