Lewis Cornelius Littlejohn was the second child and first son born to James Marcellus Littlejohn and Lula Mary Pledger Littlejohn in Belleville, Arkansas. James Marcellus and Lula Mary Littlejohn's first child was an infant daughter born on August 10, 1904 in Belleville, Arkansas who did not survive.

His parents married at the ages of 23 and 25 in Belleville, Arkansas in 1903. In 1913-1914 Lewis Cornelius' father was mayor of Belleville, Arkansas.

In 1920 when Lewis Cornelius was 14 his family lived in Phillips, Coal County, Oklahoma. In 1921 his father James Marcellus was issued a license to preach by the Methodist Episcopal Church South in Lehigh, Coal County, Oklahoma. His father continued preaching for the next 21 years.

Lewis Cornelius married Jewel Mae Taylor, born November 27, 1904 in Benton County, Arkansas on April 18, 1925 in Joplin, Missouri. They had two daughters: Betty Lou Littlejohn, born December 5, 1926 in Inola, Oklahoma and Jane Littlejohn.

In the early 1930s Lewis Cornelius was a manager of a grocery store in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he lived with his family.

Lewis Cornelius became ill while living in Bokchito, Bryan County, Oklahoma with his family in 1938. He died at the Sanitorium of Paris, Texas. He last worked at his regular employment earlier in the month of March, 1938. He entered the Sanatorium of Paris on March 30, 1938 and died on April 4, 1938 of acute yellow atrophy. Acute yellow atrophy is usually considered a disease of the liver, associated with jaundice, and was not usually curable.

His body was interred at the Gentry Cemetery in Benton County, Arkansas, where other family members of his wife Jewel Mae Taylor Littlejohn are also buried.

He was survived at the time of his death by his father, James Marcellus Littlejohn, his mother, Lula Mary Pledger Littlejohn, his wife, Jewel Mae Taylor Littlejohn, his two daughters, Betty Lou and Jane Littlejohn, his brother James Marvin and wife Connie Fay Foster Littlejohn, and his sister Velmina Cathelene Littlejohn.
