Began her earthly journey on February 21, 1915 in Warsaw, Texas, the first of seven children to be born to Edward Hughes and Sydney Hattie Barrett. Took her place in heaven on December 17, 2008, after a life of dedication to her Lord and family. Married to Daniel Clyde Bell with whom she shared 59 years before his death in 1994. Member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church most of her life where she was involved in many activities including teaching Sunday School until the age of 90. A strong but gentle lady, matriarch of the family, and living example of sacrifice and unconditional love. Survived by daughters Barbara Ives (husband Johnny) and Janet Shoemaker (husband Tom); sister Marion Strange; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 10 great, great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her sister Eloise Bruton and brothers Billy, James, Ned, and Sidney Barrett. A celebration of her life will be held Friday, December 19, 10 a.m., at Pleasant Grove Christian Church, Brother Kurt Johanson officiating. Burial to follow at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park. Family visitation will be Thursday, December 18 from 4-8 p.m. at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Christian Church.
