Robert Melvin Koehlhoeffer, 84, of 2735 Village Court, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at Pekin Manor.

Born October 29, 1923 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Charles John and Jennie C. (Deller) Koehlhoeffer, he married Mary Louise Black on November 23, 1949 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She died December 12, 2001. He also was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are two sons, David M. (Sherrill) Koehlhoeffer and Phillip H. (Linda) Koehlhoeffer, both of Pekin; and one daughter, Cathy L. Blake of Pekin.

Robert was a World War II Navy veteran, serving from 1943 to 1946 aboard the USS Cape Johnson in the Pacific Theater. He then served in the Air Force until retiring as a Technical Sergeant with 20 years active service on July 1, 1964. He then worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 22 years as a machinist, retiring in 1987.

He was a member of Roy L. King Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1232, William Schaefer American Legion Post 44 and George Maple AMVETS Post 235, all in Pekin.

Robert was a member and deacon of Bartonville Christian Church. He enjoyed gardening and fishing.

Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, with military rites provided by the United States Air Force.
