Hamlin -- Hallie Homer Pack, 82, owner and operator of Hal Pack and Company, died Monday, July 4, 1994, after a long illness in the Americare-Putnam Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hurricane, WV. He was a son of the late James Albert and Martha E. (Moore) Pack.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hamlin Baptist Church. Graveside services were conducted by members of VFW Post 1064 at the Lincoln Memorial Park. Hal Pack, a Lincoln County native, graduated from Hamlin High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the USS Castor, AKS-1 and received an Honorable Discharge from the US Navy. Many will remember Hal for his patriotism and his interest in the local community. He was a member of Hamlin Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Adena Pack of Hamlin; son Jim Pack of Richmond, Ky.; daughter Marty P. Madden of Orlando, Fla.; and grandchildren include Robin McDaniel and Josh Pack of Richmond, Ky., Adena Jeanne Gibson of Fort Lupton, Colo., Jeremy B. Madden of Jackson, Miss.; and great grandson, Harley Dean Gibson of Fort Lupton, Colo. Pallbearers were Arthur Chaney, B.R. Lester, Humpy Monday, Jack Stevens, Wiley Stowers, Jerry Mullins, Raymond "Durg" James and Kermit Adkins. Honorary pallbearers were Jack Curry and Bob Adkins
