William Fassinger, 79, of Westvale, passed away June 12 at Community General Hospital after a brief illness. Bill was born and raised in Camillus, the son of the late Geza and Helen Fassinger. He was employed at Crouse-Hinds for 47 years and retired as a foreman. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserve, 98th Division, for 33 years and retired as a master sergeant. For the past 20 years, he was employed at the Carrier Dome as a ticket taker for sporting and special events. For many years, Bill was involved in the Solvay High School Athletic Booster Club and served as past president and was active with the Boy Scouts. Bill enjoyed time with his family and friends and loved fishing, hunting and traveling. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, the former Mary Ryan; three sons, William J. (JoAnne) of Canton, NY, Philip (Michelle) of Camillus, NY, and Charles (Kelly) of Syracuse, NY; nine grandchildren, Marietta (Jeff) Lachenauer, Gabriella (Greg) Matukas, Gina (Mike) Natale, Aidan, Alexis, Abigail, Ashton, Madison and Ryan; three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Cameron and Maria; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, William, and by his brothers, Arpad and Geza. Services: 9:30 a.m. Monday at Tindall Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. Calling Hours: 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 1921 W. Genesee St. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Solvay High School Athletic Booster Club, c/o Lisa, 600 Gertrude Ave., Solvay, NY 13209 for a scholarship fund in his name.
