Rose Clara (Knauf) Kailing of Reed City, Michigan, entered eternal life Friday, May 6, 2005. She was 90 years old.

She was born on August 7, 1914 in Conkin, Ottawa County to Joseph and Frances (Schumaker) Knauf. She married Valda Philip A. Kailing on May 10, 1939 and moved to the farm in Reed City, where she spent many years.

After her husband died in 1963, Rose began working at the Nestle Inn and Kent Grill Restaurant in Reed city. She loved music. She also was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church.

Survivors include her four daughters, Rita (Brian) Deater of Grand Rapids, Evie (Russ) Kinder of Jenison, Elaine (Larry) Cowden of Buchanan and Delores (Phil) Cornelius of Reed City; her four sons, Robert (Mary) Kailing of Grand Rapids, Fred (Wanda) Kailing, Joe Kailing and Philip (Elaine) Kailing, all of Reed City, 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her sister, Emma (Knauf) Hikade of Grand Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her husband Valda; daughter, Roselyn Mary Kailing; four brothers and five sisters; her parents; and daughter-in-law, Lauralye; and great-grandchild Alyla.

Visitation: May 9, 2005, 2 to 4 p.m. 6 to 8 p.m. at McDowell Funeral Home. A scripture service will be held at 7 p.m.

Services: May 10, 2005, at St. Philip Neri Church in Reed City with Rev. Philip Shangraw officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
