Elijah Marion Cox (1849 - 1918) of English-Irish descent, resided in Palma City, Kentucky and Nancy Jane Sturgeon (1859 - 1941) of German descent resided in Calvert City, Kentucky. They were married on June 28, 1875. Shortly after their marriage, they came to Missouri, traveling by ox drawn wagon train, and settled near Zion, Mo. They were blessed with six children -- William, Parlee, Elijah, James, Anna, and Ada. Their home was a very simple rural home, where the strict discipline of the Methodist church ruled.
