Enlisted at Hartsville, New York, to serve three years; mustered in on September 10, 1861; died of disease at Fort Ellsworth, Alexandria, Va.

John Amidon is second from left. The burials in this row were moved from other parts of the cemetery in the 1800s, when the small road through the graveyard was widened. These graves were renumbered. John Amidon is in row 9, grave 816-95.

John Amven 506 86th NY, Pvt, Co B.

From the Quartermaster Ledger of Alexandria National Cem.
by Cpt C. B. Ferguson, AQM, US Army.

Ledger comment says "removed from Convalescent Camp, 25 Nov 1862" along with 12 other soldiers. from pg 35.
[ note: grave site 506 got moved since the War as it would be on south end of Section A where entrance sidewalk now exists. Site 507, 508, etc is currently next to said sidewalk. ]
