A. R. was employed as an auditing clerk for the railroad office in Palatine, Illinois in 1910 and later served as Postmaster at Palatine from May of 1918 until 1922.He was elected Mayor of the Village of Palatine in April of 1933 and held this office until 1941.
Adolph was a member of the Palatine Masonic Lodge and the Palatine Lodge of Odd Fellows. He and his family lived for many years at their home on Plum Grove Avenue.
When his health declined, he and Emeline retired to Santa Monica, California to be near their only son, Russell Adolph Godknecht, and their grandchildren.
