Ruth Cray Cliff, 87, of Gilchrist, Ore. and formerly of Lebanon, died Dec. 8, 2005.

A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 17 at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Gilchrist.

She was born Nov. 21, 1918, in Williston, N.D., the daughter of Elliott and Leonie (Lyonais) Gray.

She graduated from Lebanon High School.

She graduated from Marylhurst College in Lake Oswego with a bachelor's degree. She taught school at Sheaville, Arock, Vale, Bend, and Klamath Falls and at Fairbanks, Alaska.

On Sept. 10, 1954, she married Cameron Cliff. He died in 1985.

She owned and operated the 3,000-acre Cliff Ranch in Gilchrist.

She was a member of the Cattlewomen's Association and the Altar Society.

Survivors are her daughter Theresa Cliff of Gilchrist; sisters Betty Young of Lebanon; Marie O'Leary of Paisley, Ore., and Lucille Montgomery of Arock; brothers Mike Cray and Frank Cray, both of Lebanon, and George Cray and John Cray, both of Burns; and two grandchildren.

Her parents, husband Cameron, and a sister died before she did.
