KILLED OPERATING STUMP-PULLER. BRIDAL VEIL, March 19--Samuel C. Horton, a farmer living just across the Columbia River from Bridal Veil, was instantly killed at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon by being struck in the head with a sweep of a stump-puller, with which he was working. The rope by which the horse was attached to the sweep broke, causing the accident.
Mr. Horton was 46 years of age, and left a wife and a 6-year-old daughter. He had been a resident of this section for a number of years.
