Gunnison, Utah - Our devoted husband, father and grandfather, Van D. Kelley, age 86, of Gunnison, passed away August 21, 2003 in Mayfield, Utah, of causes incident to age.

Dad was born May 8, 1917 in Vernal, Utah, a son of Daniel Francis and Stella Taylor Kelley. He married Erma Baker (1916-2005) , February 15, 1937 in Teasdale, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple in February of 1943. Dad was a convert to the LDS Church, and he served faithfully in various church callings. He and mother served a Temple Mission at the Manti Temple.

Dad loved horses and enjoyed working with livestock. He found satisfaction in planting seeds and watching crops mature to harvest. Dad worked for the State of Utah as a meat inspector for 15 years before he retired. He loved to fish and hunt with his sons and grandsons.

Dad is survived by our beloved mother, Erma, of Gunnison; three sons: Blaine and Anne of Tooele; Karl and Diane of Fairview; Kreig and JoLue of Midvale; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; brother and sister: Hal of Springville; Lynn and Art Mink, Seattle, WA. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lorin Kelley.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 25, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gunnison LDS Stake Center, 80 East Center, in Gunnison, where friends may call for viewing Sunday evening from 7 to 9 P.M. and Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Gunnison City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
