THE DAILY REGISTER (Harrisburg, Illinois), Thursday, December 10, 1970, Page 2:

Funeral services for Sam Barton, 85, formerly of Galatia, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the chapel of the Courtney-Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia. Dr. W. A. Ward and the Rev. Bob Jones will officiate. Burial will be in the Barton Cemetery, east of Hamburg.

Mr. Barton died at 10 a.m. Monday in the Hamilton County Memorial Nursing Home in McLeansboro. He was a retired farmer and the son of the late Nathaniel and Sarah Grisham Barton.

His wife, Lora Barton preceded him in death on Jan. 4 of this year. A son, Gwin Ford Barton also preceded him in death.

Surviving are a son, Guy Barton, RFD, Galatia; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family requests that flowers by omitted.
