His awards and medals include: Bronze Star Medal; Good Conduct Medal, 4th award; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service medal; Army Commendation Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal with 60-device; 6 Overseas Service Stripes; 7 Overseas Service Bars, and Expert Badge (Rifleman).
He retired from the US Army on Feb. 28, 1973, at Fort Sill, after 20 years of service. He married Ida Clinton on Oct 10, 1978, in El Paso, TX. He had previously been employed by Peoples Cab in Lawton. He was a Baptist.
