Ida Gondolia Dola Ontis Cope, widow of Edward "Heck" Cope and a former Fieldon resident, died at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 13, 1970. in Mercy Hospital at San Diego, Calif. She was 83. She was born near Nutwood on her parents farm on Aug. 26, 1887. Survivors include three daughters , Mrs. George (Irene) Wadlow of Fieldon, Mrs. Herbert (Grace) Gunterman of Jerseyville. and Mrs. Clifford (Lucille) Maples of San Diego, Calif, with whom she had made her home for the past few years; a son, James Cope of Fieldon; a sister, Miss Blanche Ontis of Hardin; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren: and 16 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday Oct. 17, 1970 at the Gubser Funeral Home.

Interment was in Fieldon Cemetery.
