Mrs. Mattie Jane BOND, age fifty wife of George E. BOND, died at the Epworth
Hospital, Liberal, Kansas, on Tuesday, August 25th, 1925. She was taken to the
hospital at Liberal from her home northwest of this city on last Monday evening,
but nothing could be done to save her life. Mrs. BOND was born in Anderson
county, South Carolina. When a small child she moved to Elbert county, Georgia,
with her parents, where she was married on October 13, 1888, to Mr. BOND. They
moved from Georgia to Oklahoma in 1902. Mrs. BOND was the mother of nine
children, three of whom are living. She is survived by her husband, three
children, her mother, three sisters and three brothers and seven grandchildren.
The children are: Mrs. Clara BOWEN of Gray, Oklahoma; James BOND of Weed,
California, and Isham BOND of Gray, Oklahoma.
Mrs. BOND was a member of the Baptist Church, joining in early girlhood. She
was a faithful wife and a loving mother. The burial services were held on
Wednesday afternoon at the Gray church, Rev. W. C. Bryan and Rev. J. W. Duff
having charge of the funeral. After which the body was laid to rest in the Gray
cemetery. The pallbearers were: Messrs. Carl JAMISON, W. T. EADS, Hal BLAIR,
Dean RORABAUGH, J. W. SIMS and G. W. EVINS. The Herald Tenders its sympathy and
condolence to those who are left behind.
