Gene, age 89, passed away at Veteran's Memorial Hospital in Reno. he was the son of Willard Huff and Katharine (Sonneborn) Baichtal. He served in the US Navy on the minesweeper USS Scurry in World War II. He owned Baichtal Constructing until retiring in 1980. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joy Baichtal, his parents, his son, Joel Baichtal, and his granddaughter, Erica Christiansen. He is survived by his children, Ronald Baichtal, Richard Baichtal,Jeannie Thorpe, Jodi Holland, James Baichtal, and Kathy Baichtal, 16 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Memorial Services were held at Northern Nevada Veteran's Cemetery in Fernley.
