"The funeral of Grandma Landreth, a well-known, and long a citizen of Colby, took place from the M.E. church in Colby last Friday afternoon, October 8, 1915, and the remains laid to rest beside the grave of her husband in Beulah Cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. W.L. Fry, pastor of the church, Rev. W. M. Sedore and Rev. N.W. Beauchamp. The following obituary has been furnished the (sic) Tribune for this worthy "mother in Israel:"
Delilah A. Bartlett was born near Erie, Erie county, Pennsylvania, March 6, 1836, the youngest of ten children born to the union of Sylvanus Bartlett and Permelia Kellogg. She was left an orphan at the early age of seven years. After which she made her home with an aunt. She was converted at the age of 18 and united with the M.E. Church. The following year she came to Illinois to make her home with her brother, where she met and later was married to Edwin S. Landreth, August 26, 1857. To this union were born seven children, three of whom, girls, died in early childhood. One son, Elmer E., a former resident of this place died years ago. She leaves to mourn her loss two sons, Milton L. of Uniontown, Kansas and Thomas B. of Decatur, Illinois and one daughter, Mrs. W. H. Crouch of Colby, Kansas all of whom are present, also eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She suffered an attack of paralysis in June, 1909, since which time she has been an invalid. On Sunday, October 3, she suffered another attack, after which she lay in an unconscious condition until about five o'clock Wednesday evening, October 6, when death came to her as a welcome release. She was 79 years and 7 months old on the day of her death.
At different times she was giving directions concerning her funeral service, having selected her text more than a year ago. It was from Rev. 21-4."
