Alice H. (Roeske) Anderson -- Valparaiso, IN
Alice H. (Roeske) Anderson, our beloved mother, claimed her promise of eternal life through Christ Jesus on June 23, 2004, at the age of 83.
She was born February 15, 1921, to Reinhold and Emily (Sonnenberg) Roeske in Palos Park, IL.
She moved to Boone Grove, IN as a young child in 1928 and graduated from Boone Grove High School in 1938. She married Edward W. Anderson on May 1, 1939, and resided in Valparaiso, IN. Edward preceded her in death in January,1959.
Mrs. Anderson worked as a secretary to the Dept. of Chemistry at Valparaiso University from 1963 to 1980. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Valparaiso, Area Girl Scouts, PWP Val-Porte Chapter 193, Midwest Toast Mistress Club in Valparaiso. She moved to Lansing, MI in 1980 and then to Howell, MI in 1986. There she worked part-time as a senior aid at Howell Main Street, Child and Family Services, Area Agency on Aging, Livingston County Dispute Resolution, Livingston County Red Cross, and Livingston County Senior Nutrition Program. She was a member of Heart of the Shepherd Lutheran Church in Howell, MI.
She was also preceded in death by: her parents, husband, brothers, William F. Roeske and Herbert Roeske and daughter-in-law, Catherine G. Anderson.
She is survived by children; Cynthia S. Keckeissen of Michigan, Lloyd L.(Joyce) Anderson of Connecticut, John T. (Barbara) Anderson of Colorado and Dean M. (Marcia) Anderson of Fishers; brothers, Carl (Phyllis) Roeske of Boone Grove, Edwin (Jean) Roeske of Boone Grove, Gertrude Wood of Florida and Lois Lottes of Crown Point; grandchildren, Jeffery, Brian (Stacie), Joseph, David, Benjamin, and Kent Anderson, Steven and Jennifer Keckeissen; great-grandchildren, Dillon and Morgan Anderson; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. (C.S.T.) on Saturday, July 3, 2004 at the Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe St., Valparaiso, with Pastor Galen Grulke officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Valparaiso. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. on Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Red Cross or Heart of the Shepherd Church, 228 N. Burkhart Rd., Howell, MI 48843. Bartholomew Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
