Nonogenarian Is Called By Death
Death at 10:40 o'clock this forenoon summoned John Coon, a nongenearian, who passed away at the home of his grandson, Ralph Coon, 911 West Main street, following an illness of about ten days, due to the complications of ailments usually suffered by persons of advanced age.
Mr. Coon was born in Hamilton Co., Ohio on October 16, 1827, and was therefore 95 years and 25 days of age. He had been a resident of Hoopeston a short time, coming here from Indiana.
In addition to the grandson, Mr. Coon is survived by two sons, George Coon, of Hoopeston, and Bruce Coon, of Terre Haute, Indiana.
No arrangements for the funeral have been made but interment will probably take place in Floral Hill cemetery.

Funeral services of John Coon, aged civil war veteran, were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of his grandson, Ralph Coon, 911 West Main street. Rev. Boyd, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiated, and interment followed in Floral Hill cemetery.
The firing squad of the American Legion fired a salute to the dead as the body of the aged veteran was lowered in the grave.
