James Madison Price was a son of John Pryor Price and Mary Ann Eliza Hampton. He was born near Ridgeway, Henry County, Virginia. On 13 Sept. 1871, he married Mary Lyle Field (1853-1944), a daughter of Thomas William Field (1828-1886) and Margaret M. Moir (1831-1894). James and Mary Lyle had the following children: Edgar Field Price (30 June 1872); Mary Eleanor Price (27 Dec 1874-21 April 1962, m. James P. Givens); Margaret Moir Price (16 March 1877); Martha Price (22 Mar 1879); William Pryor Price (5 Aug 1881-Jan. 1966, went to Colorado); John Moir Price (31 Dec 1886, living in St. Louis, Mo. in 1917, in NY in 1942); James Bruce Price (22 Jul 1888, living in Bethlehem, Pa. in 1917).
