Ralph A. Shawhan, 82, retired co-owner of Shawhan Cigar Store, died at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Blackford County Hospital. He resided at 632 E. Kickapoo St. A life-long resident of Blackford County, Mr. Shawhan served in World War I. He was a member of WWI Barracks and of the Grace United Methodist Church.

Mr. Shawhan was born May 3, 1896, in Blackford County, the son of the late Harry Shawhan Sr., and Ada Sutton Shawhan. His wife, the former Gayle M. Gilbert, died September 13, 1966.

Survivors include one son, Robert Shawhan of Wabash, four grandchildren; one brother, Harry K. Shawhan of Hartford City; two sisters, Mrs. Floyd Pruden and Mrs. Seth Diehl, both of this city. Two brothers are deceased.

Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
