Alexander J McCREERY, b: August 7, 1836 in New Durham, LaPorte Co, Indiana M. D., d. October 5, 1899 buried Leavenworth National Cemetery, LEAVENWORTH, KS. Was a farmer, P. O. Wetmore, A. J. McCREERY enlisted in September, 1862, at Holton, Kansas, in the Eleventh Kansas Volunteer Infantry, and served with that regiment throughout the entire war . He had since been a resident of Kansas, however he had eventualy sold his farm in Wetmore Township. One report says Alexander McCREERY, was the father of eight children, of whom three sons served during the rebellion in the Union Army. Six of the eight children were residents of Kansas
