Stephen Morgan, many years a prominent citizen of Forest Grove, member of the Grand Army of the Republic, died at his home here Monday of this week of stomach cancer.

Mr. Morgan came to Forest Grove in 1904. Born at Cleveland, Ohio, October 11, 1844, he moved with his parents to Cold Springs, Jefferson County, Wisconsin in 1847. He spent his boyhood there. He joined the United Brethren church December of 1859 and later the Methodist Church. He enlisted in the Federal Army March 7, 1864 Co H, 13th Wisconsin Infantry and served until the end of the war. On December 10, 1868 He married Miss Addie Storms of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, who died September 16, 1908.

Five children: L. L. Morgan, Portland, Ore.; Ada, died in infancy; A. P., Atlanta, Neb.; Mrs. Dayse Markee, Eldridge, Cal. Who died November 5, 1918; and Mrs. Emma Blum, Cherry Grove.

On August 18, 1910 he married Miss Margaret C. Stillwell of Forest Grove.

Funeral was Wednesday at the Methodist Church, Rev. John Ebert officiated.
