Terrell Tribune, September 2, 1936
John Carroll [Calvin?] Ables died at the home of his son Homer Ables in Austin last night. He was born in Ables Springs February 9, 1857 [sic], the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Ables, pioneer settlers of that community. He married in 1878 to Miss Lena Sartain and nine children were born, five of whom survive; three sons: Homer of Austin, Clyde and John of Dallas; two daughters, Vivian and Pauline, who are married and live in California. Mrs. Ables died in 1905. Five brothers and one sister also survive: A. H. Ables and J. W. Ables of this city, A. J. Ables of Eden, Tom Ables of Oklahoma City, W. P. Ables of Elmo and Miss Maggie Ables of Terrell. Burial at Weaver Cemetery Thursday.

John Carroll [Calvin?] Ables died at the home of his son Homer Ables in Austin last night.
