With William H Stoddard & Christopher Clarke, provided the $3000 guarantee fee needed to bring Jenny Lind to Northampton for a July 1851 performance. The concert receipts were $4500.00

On moving to Bleecker, he partnered with a Mr Odenkirk in manufacturing wooden ware. In 1860, the factory burned. At the time, the Florence Sewing Machine company was looking for a general agent. He also served as financier and treasurer of the company. After serving as CEO of Florence Sewing Machine Company, he founded the Florence Manufacturing Company by purchasing Littlefield, Parsons & Co.
He was a selectman for several years, a director of the Northampton National Bank & the vice president of the Florence Savings Bank
