Shirley C. Langholf, 95, of Columbus, formerly of Seward, Ill., entered her heavenly home at 6 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2007.

She was born Jan 2, 1912, in Seward, the daughter of Dwight and Hazel Lowry Conger. She attended Seward and Rockford high schools, graduating in 1930, and from Illinois State University at Normal, Ill., receiving her teacher's certificate in 1932. She taught school for eight years before marrying Dale Langholf on Dec. 21, 1940, at Rockton, Ill.

Shirley was a lifelong member of Seward Congregational Church and while living in Columbus attended Reformed Presbyterian Church. At age 88, she self-published her autobiography. Shirley was known for her outgoing personality and wonderful sense of humor.

Shirley is lovingly survived by her daughter, Lynn (Edmund) Schisler of Columbus; her son, Brian (Vickie) Langholf of Forreston, Ill.; grandchildren, Kelly (Steve) Fuller and David (Jenelle) Schisler, both of Columbus, Jennifer (Jeff) Koning, Erik and Brandon Langholf, all of Pecatonica, Ill., Maurisa Langholf of Oregon and Ashley Langholf of Winnebago, Ill.; stepgrandchildren, Jodi (Jim) Boelen and Mike Witmer, both of Polo, Ill.; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Langholf, on Dec. 19, 1989.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike with Pastor Andy McCracken officiating. Calling will be from 10 a.m. until service time Monday. An additional funeral will be held Wednesday in Seward. Burial will be at Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery in Pecatonica.

Memorial contributions may be made to Reformed Presbyterian Church.
