Juanda Elaine Long, 84, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008, in Arlington.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday in Wade Family Funeral Home Chapel, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, with Dr. Jim Burgin and Mr. Ed Martin officiating. Interment: Mountain Peak Cemetery, Midlothian. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wade Family Funeral Home.
Juanda was born June 13, 1924, to John and Laurene Eskridge Lee. She lived in Red Oak for 25 years before moving to Arlington eight years ago. Juanda was a member of St. John's Presbyterian Church in Oak Cliff. She was an area custom home builder. She married Leon Long in 1974, a mayor and former city councilman in Red Oak, who passed away in 1999. Her former husband, M.G. "Pete" Lawson, whom she married in 1945, and the father of her children, had a long career with LTV in Grand Prairie.
Survivors: Son, Randy Lawson and wife, Sherry, of Austin; daughter, Patra Shafer and husband, Marvin, of Arlington; sister, Jackie Miner of Hurst; grandchildren, Lance Lawson, Jennifer Lawson, Brooke Yates, Marsha Shafer and Mark Shafer; and great-grandchildren, Brittany and Holliday Lawson and Jennifer Mueller.
